Corona-free Final Jury

Hi guys!

I hope you are alright. This semester almost finished and I am dealing with the final juries of my lessons. This semester is full of the juries (Imagine 5 jury in a semester). Anyway, I briefly say that it is the one that I was very excited about. It was a pleasant process. There is a lot guest jury member and also they have a different specialty in their career. It is the most diverse jury ever!!

In the jury, they said that the initial research part a bit more thorough. But they like the app presentation. Actually, in the requirement list, there is a hierarchy between the research and the proposal part in terms of time. So, We planned our presentation according to that. However, I also agree about this comment.

Anyway, if I work on this kind of subject, at that time, I will consider the importance of the research part. In addition to that, we can explain more about the effects of Covid-19. We are in. So, it is important for us. The design should produce solutions for every condition.

On the other hand, I have good news for you, guys! We want to do this app in real-time. We want to realize it. Again, I am very excited. One of the jury members is Berivan Eliş, She is a director of İstasyonTEDU is very much impressed with our project. If we continue to work harder, then she will help us with the process! Is it good, right?

I never think this kind of end at the beginning of the semester. It was a real surprise. So, If you want more detail about the lessons and process, you can write in the comment part and we can talk about it in detail. I will also share posts that are related to the future of the project. It will be legen…Wait for it..dary! LEGENDARY!!

See you soon!!

Our Stories

Hi guys!

In this blog, I will explain one of our works. As you know, I study for Id430’s subject as a group. We revised these storyboards and it is ready for the Final Jury. So let’s talk about these scenarios more and in detail!

With our app when volunteer sees animals in need, they can ask for help by posting a request. Other users get notification about the request. If they accept the request, they can go there to help animals. It is useful for the animals that live in the street when they need help.

This is the second storyboard that we have. That is related to the on-demand money donation. A volunteer takes an injured animal and takes it to the vet clinic. But he doesn’t have enough money to pay the amount. He requests a money donation and the people can help him by going to the gofundme link and donating money.

The other one is showing the benefits of available medical help. Also, you can reach this kind of offers via our app. For example, when the person sees the injured animal first they contact the vet clinic that is registered to our app. The vet can provide a discount or free help to the volunteer.

On the other hand. we also introduce the subject of food donation and how we can contribute to this action. In the app, there are two options, by going there and by shipment. In the upper part, this person doesn’t have enough money to continue feeding. She uses the app and creates a request. Someone feeds the animals instead of her. Besides, in the bottom part, again, she doesn’t have enough money for feeding. She creates a request, then someone can ship food to her and she can continue her action.

The last storyboard shows a scenario in quarantine time. We should explain the situation that we are in. Because of Covid-19, many people are at home and street animals are alone. People that live close to each other communication via the S.O.S. group chats. They distribute tasks to help street animals. It can create a useful way of transferring help to street animals regularly.

What do you think about these? Write it, I will wait for your comments!!

See you soon, or in the final jury!! The final jury is coming!

Let’s Get to Know It!

Hi guys!

In this post, I introduce our app for the first time. If you are ready, I will share it!

To provide a better helping system for street animals, we create an application named “Search Of Someone”. Besides this, we use the short version of this name. Calling S.O.S has a meaning of “requesting help”. Therefore, It also matches our aim. Shorthly, S.O.S is a platform which is a meeting point for people that cares about the street animals.

At the beginning of this semester, we started working on the “Sharing Experiences” and the ways how we share things with others. Then, when the Covid-19 affected our country, the concept of sharing was affected by this condition. Therefore, we also work on the effects of this condition while we design it..

First, we started by having research to better understand the concept that we wanted to work on. We got in touch with the people that we wanted to benefit from this design. We decided to use an interview method to get information from users. We created a user research protocol and interview questions. We searched for participants that were still helping the street animals in times of COVID-19. We have 2 interviews that have different content than others. We made this part with 8 participants and we completed successfully.

Also, We created a diagram that shows our stakeholders. For the food supply, we can use the power of the  individual donors and crowdfunding. The vets and cAlso, We created a diagram that shows our stakeholders. For the food supply, we can use the power of the individual donors and crowdfunding. The vets and crowdfunding provide the animals with their medical help. In the system that we create, they can request help easily for the animals in need. Volunteers are the ones that transfer help to animals. All of the stakeholders somehow connect. They can collaborate to help the street animal. And, for better explaining, We also created a system map for the app.

On the other hand, our collective data from the interview sessions are used as a diagram. It is like a summary that we have. We defined our basic needs and we think that all we need is collaboration. So, We just look for the ones that want to help street animals.

After the creation of the proposal, we met with some of the participants one more time and we explained our design proposal. They gave us some recommendations and, considering our ideas and general concept, we applied some of their advice to the system. The blue ideas are the ones that we applied.

Thank you for reading! You know everything about our app. If you want to see it, then you should wait for it!

See you!

“I have a meeting today!”

Hi guys!

I am very excited about online interviews. It sounds great. Isn’t it? But before talking about the interviews, I want to talk about how we reach the people first. We created a poster to share on social media and we shared this poster on the page of TEDU Animal Lovers and also in our Instagram accounts. We announce our research in this way but we also communicate with people on other platforms such as Whatsapp, and Twitter.

ID430

Then, we scheduled dates to interview with them and asked if they could still volunteer and if they could document it. Besides, we scheduled another interview with the ones that wanted to participate in the second part. Just 2 people didn’t continue in the second step because they can’t access the animal because of the Covid-19. In the end, there are 9 participants in this research process.

interview

Our aim was to reach 6 people because of the limited time but it was not the same as our expectation, it is more than that. When we scheduled the dates, all of my group members were waiting for the dates impatiently. But, during the interview, we tried to hide this feeling and we try to do it professionally. I always remember this experience, it was unique 🙂 Also, when I said my friends that I have a meeting at 6 pm, I am a busy one, It was cool and feel like I am a different person now.

After these interviews, we reviewed them and took some notes. We created an archive that includes these interviews’ records and our notes. Therefore, we can pass the another step in this project. I am very excited. Are you excited too?

See you in another post!

Stay safe!

The Protocol

Hi guys!

Visitor Management Dashboard | Envoy

KULLANICI ARAŞTIRMA PROTOKOLÜ

Here is the protocol that I mentioned in the previous blog post. The language of this document is Turkish because we will work with the people who live in Turkey. If we do interviews with foreign people, the result can be different because of cultural differences. So, we considered this issue while we work on the project.

I want to explain our way through the research part of the project. The research consists of two main steps according to the participation preference. The first stage is an online interview that takes about 20 minutes. To continue after the first stage, the second stage consists of two interrelated parts. First, we will ask you to share information and videos about the situation of street animals. Then we will have an online interview again. In this last meeting, which we plan to take about 20 minutes, we will talk about your observations/shares about street animals and your volunteering suggestions to support street animals in times of crisis. In the research protocol, we started with this knowledge about the steps of the research part. It also included the questions that belong to both first and second steps; besides this, there are more detailed explanations about these steps. As soon as we finished preparing the protocol, we will start our online interviews.

I have a different beginning step for a project. In the studio time, the first step was analyzing the site and site’s surroundings. The reason for this is collecting the data that is useful for our design approach. So, while I consider this era, I think the site is the area that we focused on, and our element that we analyzed in the site is the people. Therefore, we started with the elements of our site. Firstly, we questioned them. According to their answers, we created sub-topics that we should focus on. It is not different than my department but as I said before, The scale that we focus on is different in this process. I love finding this kind of similarity. It provides that I feel close to this area. It is also useful for catching the soul. Let’s move on!

I am wonder about the other similarities with the different departments that you realized. If you have a chance to work with different areas and you realize same similarities between your and the other departments, I will be waiting for you and your experiences! Share with us!

Have a nice week!

The Animal Team!

Hi guys!

It’s been a long time. During the quarantine, my workload is increasing but I still continue my lessons and projects. In this blog, I will explain my process in ID430 that is one of my free elective lessons and related to the industrial design. If you are ready, I will start!!!

We started this project by working on some research themes and also UX methods. Then, we decided who wanted to work on which topic. There are 7 people who join this lesson and in the end, there are 2 groups with 2 different topics. Our topic is related to street animals. During the quarantine, the feeding and care of a street animal are not the same as before. They have difficulty in finding food and also they don’t see us, maybe they miss us. Therefore, we need to solve this issue with the people who are voluntary for this purpose.

We are the Animal Team! As a group, while the research part, we will do online interviews and we will collect the data with the voluntary. Therefore, we should make a user research protocol that explains all of our strategies and process in this part. I think it is a quite hard thing for me. I have never been in this kind of situation. Everything should be clear and also usable for creating collective data. When my instructors announce and explain what we should do and be careful in this process, It is more understandable but also it seems like a more serious step. However, there was a piece of good news!! We can have more than one critic that can provide revising of the protocol in multiple times.

In another post, I will share this protocol with you. If you have a work that requires a protocol, you can share your experiences with us in the comment part:)

See you, Stay Safe!

Research Themes and UX Methods

Hi guys!

Firstly, because of the quarantine process, I am totally focusing on my homework and it is also affecting me. In ID 430 (it is a course that I have in this semester, I mention in my older posts), we defined some research themes and problems under the title of user experience.

It was a group work and we started with the “pyramid of hierarchy of needs”. As a note:

This pyramid is a representation of needs in a hierarchical order. Besides,  this pyramid belongs to Maslow who is an American psychologist. He has published it in 1943.

The 5 Levels of Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs

I know this time is a hard situation for everybody and also manage our lives at home is the only thing that we do but it is a temporary moment. While we handle it, there are some forgotten things that we don’t realize know. Our lives have the first two-stage of this table.  We far away from the people we love. But we deserve the next stages! About 24 days, we are in quarantine and isolate ourselves from other people. Now, we should change the hard conditions of our lives to a somehow more interactive way with people that we loved.

We decide two topics, children’s well-being (physically and emotionally) and lack of sense of communication. Besides, we assign the methods of user experience for the research of these themes.

1- CHILDREN’S WELL-BEING (PHYSICALLY AND EMOTIONALLY)

download

Children have to stay in the home like everybody. It could be a difficult condition when we consider their life sometime recently Coronavirus. They are the foremost dynamic ones all day. They have to spend their energies. Moreoverpresently, they are just playing online games on their tablet and they will become an addictive person to technology. But when we think about that, it is the only choice that they have easily. it is awful for children both before the Coronavirüs and also now. But presently, it is the more dangerous version of this addition. In this manner, we predict that children are the foremost influenced portion of society very badly. They feel alone and they have inconvenience finding an action.

We chose three methods for this theme:

  • Survey with parents
  • Collage or mood board
  • Writing a letter

2- LACK OF SENSE OF COMMUNICATION

Başlıksız-1 kopya

We should keep our distance from somebody but it created a distance literally. Our communications and the closeness with each other is somehow decreasing to the minimum value. Presently, we are living with our computers.  n spite of the fact that this is often a difficult condition for getting utilized to doing it, we have needs and priorities, for example, it can be related to our works or our studies. Therefore; we meet an online platform for handling our priorities. We speak with us very limited.

We want to create awareness for this. Although there are some platforms for preventing this non-social environment, there is no enough advertisement. If we create awareness upon them, then people realize this problem and they can decrease the usage of technological devices.

We chose three methods for this theme:

  • Likert scale
  • Self-documentation
  • Day reconstruction method

Now, I wonder about your opinions about whether the ones are related to these topics or general comments. If there is any suggestion, please write as a comment!

See you in another blog post!

Sharing Culture and Sharing Economy

Hi guys!

Nowadays, although there is a harsh condition for contunıng education, all of my lessons find a solution and go through their way. In ID 430, We work on the subject of “Sharing Culture and Sharing Economy”. This post is related to these terms.

sharing-economy
Taken by https://ied.eu/project-updates/collaborative-economy-and-its-impact

Sharing Culture is a thing that both encourages and enables the free exchange of knowledge, insight, and experience to benefit individuals and an organization as a whole. In other words, its aim situated the benefit of everyone.

Sharing Economy is a short-term peer-to-peer transaction to share the use of idle assets and services or to facilitate collaboration. It has some type of online platform and in this century, It is a way of sharing easily for example co-working and fashion platforms.

From cave paintings to the internet and beyond; sharing has come a long way. The way that we share, what we share and why we share are important things in this process. (But don’t share COVID Virus, be careful about that!)

After the general knowledge of these terms, we are separated for research and presentation about some type of sharing services and platform. It is individual work and representation. My subject is Good Sharing Services and Platforms.

Shared goods refer to the exchange, sale or loaning of new or used items among different actors. Equipment, toys, tools, clothing, furniture, appliances, books and electronics are examples of items shared. Sharing economy activities can impact product-life extension in addition to reducing the number of materials in circulation; however, this requires that goods are designed with more intensive use, long-lasting value, and durability in mind. Also, I mentioned some of the platforms of good sharing, these are:

I will add their website for you and you should click on their names. Check it please and Learn it more!

See you! Stay home!

Break-up Letter

Hi guys!

This the first post includes my experiences in the ID 430 lesson. Now, the topic is related to the history of the process and the change of people’s needs and claims. During the lessons, I somehow try to make a connection between architecture and these lessons. Although there is more difference between them and especially, They have similarities. The scale that they focus on while designing the process is more changeable. It is sometimes more personal needs focusing, or more society needs-based. I can say that it is zoom in-zoom out the tactic in the architectural field. Although the final product is different from each other, the focus is on the experiences of individuals, communities and also societies.

Anyway, I should explain the subject that is also the title of this blog post. The Break-up Letter. It was an exercise that we did in the lesson. I wrote a letter about why I breaking up from my pencil case. The sound is weird, I know, but the thing that is important for this exercise is the reason/s behind this break-up. I don’t share all the information; after all, it is a personal thing you know 🙂

In the end, there were different perspectives, reasons, and approaches. Every letter has its characteristics. You should try one!!

See you!

The Intersection With Industrial Design

Hi guys!

My main aim when the time that I choose my lessons at the beginning of the semester is trying different experiences and also gaining experience in a different field. In addition, I want to explain the foreign people in our school’s course selection very briefly. We create our schedule with respecting some criteria but we have multiple options. Let me explain without expanding the subject! I choose an Industrial Design’s lesson which is called ID 430-User Experience in our school.

I am happy about this selection because it is a general topic that can be applied in multiple areas. The ideas or any tactics that I learn in these lessons could be useful in the future. Hopefully, In the brief session of these lessons, I realize that I will have all my expectations from this course at the end of the semester.

If you wonder about my process in this field, you would check on the folder which is called ID 430 frequently. I will wait for your comments and also your interpretations.

Have a nice week!
